INFORMATION - Waiver is available at the bottom of the page
Swing Zone Family Fun Park is pleased to introduce the first Paintball Field to New Bern and Havelock area residents. For people not familiar with this popular fast paced activity, please read below for a brief overview of this exciting family sport. Paintball can be played in several types of venues - from large open fields and forests to smaller controlled fields. The specific type of Paintball offered at Swing Zone is called Speedball, and is played by two opposing teams of up to five players on a level field designed specifically for the sport. Netting extends 20’ high around the entire playing field and each team starts in its designated flag station on their sides of an arena style field.

While waiting for the whistle to blow both teams are planning their strategies. The whistle blows and each team is off and running. Games are very fast paced as the players move up the field hiding behind man made bunkers, camouflage netting, tubing, large spindles and barrels - until one team wins the game. Because of the open field style of Speedball, it is very spectator friendly. Visitors and friends who do not want to play can watch most of the action while seated in the enclosed pavilion behind the main building.

SAFETY
Players MUST wear their goggles and they MUST use barrel plugs. They must treat the paint marker with respect. They learn that safety is important, not just to protect themselves, but to protect others. A lapse in safety will cause field staff to remove the offending player from the field. Repeat offenders will be barred from playing.

What kind of equipment do I need in order to play?
In order to play paintball at Swing Zone Family Fun Park you need the following equipment In addition, Swing Zone will be offering a rental package for new players or those without their own equipment.

What can I expect as a beginner?
In the game of paintball, two opposing teams challenge each other in an attempt to achieve a specific objective or objectives. Those teams that dominate and win their engagements do so because of the strong emphasis that is placed on achieving the objectives as a team. Everybody on the team is working on the same game plan. Paintball is a great team sport and within any successful organization, teamwork is a key success factor.

PAINTBALL & CORPORATIONS
Many corporations have used paintball to assess employees and to provide an excellent venue for stress management. Paintball provides two types of stress management. First, it provides an arena where players can safely vent aggression. Paintball provides both physical and mental release. Second, paintball allows you to assess player reactions to high-stress situations.

Teamwork
This is an essential skill in paintball. Teamwork allows, not only for the team to obtain the objective, but in engaging opponents and simply negotiating obstacles and terrain. Employees who play well together will work well together.

Leadership
Selecting leaders is a dangerous process. Not only for the individual concerned, but for the company as a whole. Important projects can fail because the wrong person was chosen to lead it. In paintball, no corporate budget, stock values or valuable equipment will be jeopardized.

Paintball is also a great way to get everybody together, remove inhibitions and have fun. It is guaranteed to be the talk of the office for weeks to follow.

OBEYING RULES AND LAWS
There are safety rules, field rules and game rules. In order to be permitted to play, you must abide by them. Cheaters are not well liked in this sport and they are quickly ostracized.

RESPECT FOR AUTHORITY
Field staff have to enforce safety and playing rules. Argue with them and you won't get to play. You have to listen to what they tell you, they are there to ensure that everyone has a good, safe day. It's nice to hear kids saying things like "yes sir" and "Mr. Referee".
